An intimate narrative, with the visual language of this film standing to replicate the inner conflict and sense of imprisonment the protagonist feels throughout the story. A long and thorough pre-production timeline, with several recces and test shoots saw a fruitful shoot (with exception of the weather), in which I had a wonderful team alongside me in the photography department. The film saw flashbacks, which began as hard, painful memories, gradually becoming softer, warmer and more intimate as the protagonist reckoned with the feeling of being stuck in one’s early adulthood. The photography reflected this journey, encouraging the viewer to see the story through Ben’s eyes and experience his emotional arc firsthand.
